In my spare time, I enjoy sampling the wonderful cheeses, beers, and increasingly fancy modes of coffee consumption that the world can offer. I am a bibliophile and television enthusiast, currently co-reading The Gene: An Intimate History by Siddhartha Mukherjee and Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis while mourning the end of Blue Planet 2 and repetitively devouring Big Little Lies.

Every three months or so, I attempt in vain to learn how to crochet, because I am occasionally conflicted by the ‘idleness’ of watching television (due to the Puritanical mania of America) and would like a productive task to complement my viewing.

I journal daily and enjoy swimming at local recreation centers because repetitive motions inspire creativity and somebody always says something funny and worth remembering in the ladies’ changing room, and therefore writing down in my journal.

I am an active citizen and volunteered with the Shine Mentoring Programme at a local elementary school with a ten-year-old boy named Santana, even though he and his classmates often make fun of my unimpressive pat-ball performance this past year. Until a recent move back to the States, I also spent time doing assorted acts of service with the Rotary and Rotaract clubs of London, because active citizenship makes me feel better about the current state of the world and who is running it.

I am a patron of the arts and go to the theatre and to concerts. I recently saw one of the final performances of An American in Paris and had the pleasure of seeing my favorite band, Blind Pilot, perform in London three times in the past year.

I find the power of data analysis fascinating and am learning how to code in the classroom that is YouTube.

I love to learn, entertain, and be entertained. I am constantly seeking out new information and stories and thinking of the ways in which the world is interconnected. I sometimes write these ideas on this blog.
